Firstly … disobeying what God has told them to do.
– Verse 4 … so they will not be scattered over the face of the earth.
Secondly …want to make a name for themselves … without any input from God.
Are you kidding!
… bake bricks rather than import stone from the hills
… God has to come down to meet them.
A disastrous result
… confuses their language
… scatters them out over the whole earth.
Some questions
i) Why the Genealogies?
… to completely stress out the bible readers.
… keep us focussed on the promise
… a special focus on the people groups that are relevant to the Israelite nation
… focus in on the next scene in God’s plan.
ii) Is God running scared?

For us today
i) Does it matter who has the tallest building?
…height of the building is not the problem
…but rather the collective defiance towards God.
ii) Different languages … not different races
God’s purposes are to bring gospel blessing to the whole world…
iii) Not God’s last word
