The Gospel And Work
Where we’ve been in the last couple of weeks
- Work was made to be good
- Like everything, work in this world is corrupted.
- Work: more than just making a living
The story of the world:
- We all know that there are things wrong in the world
- We all want to be part of making it better
The danger: all our stories are at risk of idolatry
God’s goal for us: a redeemed character
- Work is an opportunity to display a Christlike character
1 Cor 10:31-33
- Work is oriented towards God, and intended to honour God
- Work is an opportunity to ‘keep in step with the Spirit’ (Gal 5:25)
Putting the theory ‘to work’
- In the vocational workplace
- Where do you find value in your work?
- What are the idols of your workplace?
- What is your ‘career trajectory’?
- How do you treat others?
- How do you show leadership (if you have opportunity)?
- More broadly in our life’s work
- What are your goals for life?
- Where do you find value in what you do?
