Climbing a cliff with an overhang

Our potential blind spot – male = female.

Background

Definitions
Male = someone with an X and a Y chromosome
Female = someone with two X chromosomes

Are both genders equal?
Gen 1:27, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.”
– The example of Jesus
– Gal 3:28, “there is no male not female for you are all one in Christ Jesus”
God made us equal but God has not made us interchangeable

What are the differences?
1) Social customs

2) External Physical differences

3) Internal physical differences

4) Roll differences for God’s people

Why did God make two different genders?
Reason 1 – So we can make children.

Reason 2 – For companionship
Gen 2:18, “it is not good for man to be alone”

Reason 3 – To help us understand God and point us to heaven
“God has given us two distinctly different genders to enable us to better grasp the nature of God”
“a picture of God’s love for us”
Gen 1-2 … Rev 21-22
Hosea chapter 1-3
Song of Songs
John 3:28-29, Matthew 9:15.
Ephesians 5
Rev 21-22
So, what do we make of this?
differences … central to the plans and purposes of God.

Living in light of two equal but different genders
Firstly, uphold the fact that the two sexes are 100% equal in the plans and purposes of God.
Secondly, embrace the differences
Thirdly, give thanks to God for these differences.
Fourthly, you should remember that God, who loves us deeply, has plans and purposes that are good for us in light of eternity.
Fifthly, differences certainly make marriage deeper and richer
Finally, … what God planned in light of the reality that marriage points us to our eternal future united with Christ.
