Unexpected Truth And Slow Hearts

Luke 24:1-35

Unexpected death

The quest for the messiah seem to have come to a dead end.

Unexpected Resurrection
Luke 24:4 … the women were left wondering.

“Why do you look for the living among the dead, he is not risen. Remember how he told you while he was still with you in Galilee, The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again”.

Unedited honesty
… women found the empty grave.
… these women forgot what Jesus had told them.

Luke 24:12 … Peter left wondering

The disciples on their way to Emmaus
Luke 24:16 … they were kept from recognising him.
… they only get it half right.
Gentle rebuke … verse 25, “how foolish you are and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken about”
None of these people in any way expected Jesus to be alive.

For us today
1)    Do you really believe that Jesus really rose physically from the dead?

2)    Is the resurrection of Jesus is in our conversations.

3)    Does the resurrection shape our mission as individuals and as a church.

4)    Does the reality of the resurrection shape the use of the time God has given us on this earth?

5)    Does the reality of the resurrection shape the way we use our money?

6)    Does the reality of the resurrection shape the way our family operates?
