The end of the world is nigh!

What the bible says
1 Thess 1:9-10 … “waiting for the Son from Heaven”.
Acts 1:11 … Jesus will return from heaven in the same way that they saw him go into heaven.
1 Cor 15:23 … first fruits … those who belong to him will be made alive.
1 Thess 4… confused about the detail of the timing.
2 Peter 3
John 14:1-3, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

What should we expect when Jesus does return?
1) The impact of Jesus’ return will be of cosmic proportions
… everyone will be affected.
2) When Jesus returns it will be unexpected
… no one will know the day or the hour
3) When Jesus returns there will be a complete transformation
… a complete transformation.

How then should we live as we wait for the return of Jesus?
1) Do not waste our time
2) Do not forget – 2 Peter 3:8
Matthew 23:42 …keep watch.
3) Have a clear gospel focus – 2 Peter 3:8
4) Live holy and godly lives as we look forward to the coming of the Lord and speed its coming” – 2 Peter 3:11
2 Peter 3:14 – make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
2 Peter3:17 ensure we are no deceived by false teachers, the error of lawless men.
