My finest hour!
God’s finest hour v 31-32
Jesus immanent departure – v 33
An incredible command v 34-35
“A new commandment I give you. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this will all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”.
> a command
> deeply practical
> Jesus set the standard
> Those who are not Jesus’ disciples will see
So what does it mean to love one another like Jesus loves?
Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrated his own love for us in this that whilst we were still sinners Christ died for us”.
1 Cor 13:4-8. “Love is patient, love is kind, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs, love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails”
Do not get love wrong
Peter’s rash promise
For us today
Firstly, be people who clearly speak about the cross for it is God’s finest hour.
Secondly, be people who love like Jesus loves.
