The hour has come
John 2:4, “Dear Woman, why do you involve me. My time has not yet come”.
John 4:21, 23, “A time is coming”
John 7:30, John 8:20
John 12:23, “the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.”
OT expectations
Firstly, – Gen 3 “crush the serpent’s head”.
John 12:31 – the prince of this world will be driven out.
Secondly, Dan 7:13-14 – the Son of Man.
“Son of Man will approach the Ancient of Days and he would be given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshipped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”
Implications of the hour
a) Jesus will die – v 24
b) There is something better than life in this world – v25
c) Jesus must be served by those who claim to follow – v26
d) The Father will honour those who serve Jesus
e) Judgment is coming
