How do you know things with certainty? Look in the Bible?
The Authority of Scripture
We believe in the divine inspiration and infallibility of holy scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
Divine
Divine in origin
like a scarecrow in a melon patch their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good. Jer 10:5
Comes from a God who speaks to his world
God is not like men who lie, he’s not human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises he does, he just speaks and it is done. Numbers 23:19
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
Inspired
God has breathed his word out and caused it to be written down
It did not remove the personality or style of the human author
Infallible
God’s word will never fail us, it is completely trustworthy to achieve the function for which God gave it to us for.
All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17
