What do you need to be content in life?

“Contentment is satisfaction or happiness to the full extent of one’s desires.” (Oxford)
– ‘give us our daily bread’

Neither poverty nor riches
Proverbs 30:7-9 – “Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die:  Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonour the name of my God.
… poverty is not good
… riches are not good
How much money is too much?
– Mat 6:24, “you cannot serve both God and money
– 1Timothy 6:8 it says, “if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that

Contentment and Happiness in Philippians
Phil 4:10-13. – “I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Phil 4:19, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Contentment is a spiritual state.

Reflect on where do you find ultimate contentment in life?

Contentment and lasting happiness in 1 Timothy
1 Tim 6:6, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”
