Revelation 10:1-11:19 – The Good News Of The Kingdom

Revelation 10:1-11:19

… hard passage to understand.
… not presented to us in chronological order
… slightly different focuses.
The passage today …

The interlude
John is presented with another scroll.
… seven speaking thunders
We do not know everything about God
1) What the church needs to be doing!
Rev 11:4 – two witnesses as the church… as they are lamp stands.
The church is depicted as having great power but the power is in the message they proclaim, the gospel.
The tension that exists …

How wrong people get this passage …

2) The church will not be wiped out
… nothing can harm the church.
… God will continue to use his church until he returns.

What about the time periods?
… always symbolic.

The seventh trumpet
Rev 11:15
… a picture of heaven,
… the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and his Messiah.
… and God will reign forever and ever.
God has taken his great power and begun to reign.
Verse 18 … the righteous anger (or wrath) of God and the anger of humanity
…a great picture for those who revere God but as the eagle said, a terrible woe for those who reject him to face his righteous wrath.

For us today
1) Refocusing our church

2) Our confidence as a church
