What defines you?
What is it that gives you your identity?
Our better identity
1 Peter 1:1 … God’s elect people.
Qu: If you follow Jesus, is your primary identity found in the fact you have been chosen by God to be his?
Qu: What would your life begin to look like if you found your identity in God?
“who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood”.
Our incredible hope
Qu: Do you understand how incredible our hope in Jesus is?
– verse 3 – New birth into a living hope.
– verse 4 – God gives an inheritance kept in heaven for you.
– verse 5 – … are shielded by God from those who seek to destroy you.
Living for Jesus now
– verse 3… people who praise God.
– verse 6, 8-9 … filled with an in expressible and glorious joy.
– Persecution is an expected part of living for Jesus.
Qu: What are your present trials and things that cause you suffering?
Qu: Are your present trials worth it when compared to the hope that you have for eternity?
– verse 9, the focus we should have … the end result of our faith, the salvation of our souls.
