A response to God’s power and majesty
Deut 5:29, “Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and to keep my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever”
(“Oh” = “I wish, I desire”)
- Disciple the next generation – 6:4-9
- Prepare for the dangers of wealth – 6:10-12
- Do not follow the gods of the nations – 6:13-19
- Ensure people do not forget – 6:20-25
Today’s challenge:
Obey him – do we heed God’s warnings to obey his word?
Responsibility to listen – what effort do we make to hear and obey God’s word?
Discipling – are we disciplining the next generation to know, love and serve God?
Problem of wealth – how do we ensure that wealth doesn’t distract us from God?
Problem of other gods – what other ‘gods’ are we tempted to follow?
Problem of going cold – how are we ensuring we follow God along with our families?
