Truths to die for …
… absolute truth exists.
Why this truth matters
Firstly, it affects what is central in gospel ministry.
Secondly, it affects what the bible says about the gospel being a free gift, a gospel of grace.
Thirdly, because it will affect who we think is likely to be saved and thus who we actually share the gospel with in the first place.
So what does the Bible say about this?
Ezekiel 36 – God is the one who does everything.
verse 26-27 – He is going to put his Spirit in the people to move them so they can obey.
Acts 11:18, “God granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life”.
The truth worth dying for – The work of the Holy Spirit is necessary to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting him or her repentance towards God, and faith in Jesus Christ.
John 6:44, 65, “No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him”.
What should we do?
Firstly, be someone who prays.
Secondly, be someone who speaks the gospel – Romans 10:9-10
Thirdly, be someone who promotes the gospel in the way you live – 1 Peter 2:10-12
