Taking sin seriously
… destructive sin is to my relationship with God
OT sacrificial system … a constant reminder of the serious nature of sin.
Romans 6:23, “the wages of sin is death”.
Rescue from sin
Verse15, “For this reason Christ is mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance – now that he died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant”
The new covenant has started because Jesus is…
a) the perfect mediator
b) the perfect sacrifice
c) eternal
Heb 9:22, “In fact the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”.
Jesus’ rescue is better
For us today
1) Do not go back
2) Jesus died in our place
3) Confidence before the throne
