How seriously do you take following Jesus?
Should we expect opposition from our world?
The world will hate you.
Verse 18
…if you remain in Jesus
Verse 19… we can belong to Jesus… or we can belong to the world
They claim to follow God but they hate Jesus
John 16:1-4 … from those who claim to be followers of God.
They hate Jesus because of his teaching
Verse 20… they do not like his teaching.
“If they obey my teaching (which they do not) then they will obey yours also (but since they did not obey my teaching they will not obey yours but they will persecute you in the same way that they persecuted Jesus)”
So what should followers of Jesus do?
Show love to those around us.
Remain in Jesus.
