Romans 1:18-32 – The Anger of God

Psalm 90:1-17

Romans 1:18-32

God is angry!

Romans 1:18 – “the wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth”.

So why is God angry?
Verse 18 – people suppress the truth about God

Verse 20 – “we are left without any excuses before God”.

Verse 21 – “people knew God and they still rejected him, they do not glorify him as God”

Consequences of God’s wrath
Verse 24, 26 and 28 – God gives people over.
“People can now enjoy the horrible freedom they have always demanded”.

Verse 24 – “God hands people over to the sinful desires of their hearts, to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another”.

Verse 26 – “God hands people over to shameful lusts”

Verse 27 – “due penalty for their perversion”.

Verse 28 “God has given people over to a depraved mind to do what ought not to be done”.

Rom 1:29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

How does this passage apply to us?
We are in desperate need to salvation for none of us are right before God.
1)    Expect what we see on the news
2)    Expect a society that is hurting and broken sexually
3)    Expect society to try and remove every proclamation of God they can
4)    Expect society to reflect 1:29-31
The solution is to share the gospel and see people converted and desiring to follow God.
