Back in the days of Silent Movies when Charlie Chaplin was all the rage, they used to put on Charlie Chaplin look alike competitions. Contestants would dress-up with run down suits, bowler hats, walking sticks and tiny moustaches.
Charlie Chaplin, that is the real Charlie Chaplin, was a bit of a practical joker. At a competition one day he actually decided to enter himself in a Charlie Chaplin look alike contest. You will never guess what happened? Well, he actually lost. It sounds unbelievable, I know. But when the real thing turned up – they didn’t recognise him.
It’s a bit like God. People are longing for someone who’ll give them meaning and purpose in life. And the truth is, he’s already come – and we didn’t recognise him. In fact, we killed him.
