Last Sunday after the morning tea break we held our Annual Vestry Meeting. In that meeting we received reports from various ministries in the church, elected our office bearers for the coming year and also looked to the future direction and ministries of the parish.
It is wonderful to be able to announce that last Sunday we, as a parish, decided to make the big step to employ another full time worker. We are looking for someone with a passion, training and experience in children’s and youth work.
God has graciously blessed the children’s and youth ministries over the past three or so years and we felt it is time for us to make this move to be able to better support the children’s and youth ministry. Another full time staff member would free me up to pick up other ministries that have lagged as well as establish some new ministries that will enable us to reach out with the gospel to the community around us.
I must admit to being both excited and daunted by where we find ourselves. Excited because I feel that this will be a very significant step forward for our parish. Daunted because it is sometimes more comfortable to remain as things were.
So can I urge you to be people who pray for the right person – nothing is beyond our great God. This is by far the most important step we need to take. Also can I encourage you to pray for me and others who will be involved in the process of interviewing those who might apply.
Pray that we might have godly wisdom.
