The Danger of rejecting Jesus (v 26-31)
Verse 26 “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of truth, no sacrifice is left but only the fearful expectation of God’s judgement”
… deliberately sinning AFTER you know truth.
a) Trampling the Son of God underfoot
Heb 1:3 “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After providing purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven”
b) Treated as unholy the New covenant that sanctifies you
c) Insulted the Spirit of Grace
Hebrews 2:3-4 …testify to the truth of the gospel
Hebrews 6:4-5 …received the gospel …shared in the Holy Spirit.
Remembering the past and persevering (v32-39)
… stood their ground in a great contest in the face of suffering
… stood side by side those who have been treated like this.
… sympathised with those in prison.
… joyfully accepted the confiscation of their property.
So what about us today?
James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves do what it says”
