1 Samuel 26
The background (chapter 21-25):
Saul is growing increasingly crazy
David is on the run, hides from Saul rather than fight him
David has the chance to kill Saul and passes it up
Saul goes hunting David in the mountains (vs 1–7).
David’s chance to kill Saul
Option 1: Kill Saul, take the throne.
Option 2: Trust God to deliver his promises.
What can we make of this story:
God is faithful to his promises
We respond in “righteousness and faithfulness” (vs 23)
Our hope lies in our trust in the Lord’s anointed.
