Wondering what you will get out of Church? Is your faith evident to people?

Romans 1vv1-16 – Paul’s weighty intro Faith= trust, belief
“Faith is the surrender of the mind… [and] reason”
“…faith is reason gone courageous – not the opposite of reason”

Christian faith: Jesus is the direct object of our faith or trust

The Passage

vv8-10 ‘Thanks and concern in prayer’
V8 Excellent faith reputation (like Is 49v6)
Faith and obedience (John 14v23 – Love Jesus? Obey his teaching)
V9-10 Importance of Jesus. Doesn’t stop praying. Love to visit them.

vv11-15 ‘I wish I was there’
v11 Paul desires to bolster their faith
V12 Faith fosters faith in others
V13 Failure to visit not from lack of trying.
Love to reap a bumper faith crop with them.
V14 Debt to highly educated and unsophisticated
V15 Need to know Jesus and what He’s done for them
Later: V17 Faith vitally important. Moves to describe messed up world

Application

Is someone’s faith encouraging, tell them, but thank God too

Be thankful for each and every brother and sister

Don’t keep your faith to yourself, share it Uplift one another in prayer
